Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Workshop Empowers Women in Lumbini

On 10 June, 2025, the Sulabh Sanitation Club, with support from the B. P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, organized a Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) workshop at the Lumbini Sanskritik Nagar Palika Hall. The session brought together 50 women—including teachers, Mothers’ Group members, SHG representatives, and Nagar Palika staff—for a powerful conversation on menstrual health and dignity.

The workshop addressed the serious health and social consequences of poor menstrual hygiene, which include infections, reproductive complications, school dropouts, and stigma. Through engaging formats like storytelling, group activities, enactments, and songs, the session:

  • Demonstrated the use and disposal of menstrual products

  • Debunked common myths and taboos

  • Promoted open dialogue and safe hygiene practices

Participants left the session equipped to become community changemakers, pledging to spread awareness across classrooms, self-help group meetings, and households throughout Lumbini Province.

By starting conversations and sharing knowledge, these women are helping to break the silence and build a future where menstrual health is a right—not a stigma.
