Event on Accelerating Sustainable WASH Practices
A special event was held on June 9, 2025, at Lumbini Sanskritik Nagar Palika, Nepal, to promote sustainable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices in schools and communities. Organized by the Sulabh Sanitation Club in collaboration with local NGO Kalika, and supported by the BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation of the Indian Embassy, the gathering brought together around 60 community leaders, WASH representatives, and municipal officials.
Notable Guests included - Shri Sajaruddin Musalmaan, Mayor, Lumbini Sanskritik Nagar Palika, Mrs. Tara Gyali, Chief Administrative Officer and Mr. Basisht Nandan, First Secretary, Embassy of India in Nepal.
The event featured inspiring messages from dignitaries on strengthening Indo-Nepal partnerships for community-led WASH initiatives. The Mayor acknowledged Sulabh’s role in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and expressed hope for similar impact in Nepal. Mr. Nandan praised Sulabh’s work in schools, while Mrs. Gyali emphasized the need to scale such interventions across nearby wards and districts.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from local authorities and community leaders to integrate Sulabh Sanitation Club’s WASH initiatives into broader education and development programs, paving the way for long-term behavioral change and sanitation sustainability.
