Five Widows from Vrindavan and Varanasi Tie Rakhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi

On the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan, five widowed mothers from Vrindavan and Varanasi had the blessed fortune of tying Rakhi to the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, at his residence in New Delhi.

Hundreds of women living in various ashrams across Vrindavan and Varanasi regard Modi as their "brother" and craft Rakhis for him every year with love and devotion. This year, more than 1,100 special Rakhis were handcrafted by the widowed mothers of Vrindavan for their beloved brother and presented to him on this sacred occasion.

With our continued support, a group of mothers was brought to Delhi to be part of this year's celebration. Five widowed mothers visited the Prime Minister's residence and tied Rakhi to him, marking yet another year of this cherished tradition. On the occasion, the Prime Minister warmly enquired about their well-being and expressed his heartfelt gratitude, the mothers shared on their return.

The mothers who had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister this year were:

• Maa Pushpa Adhikari (Vrindavan)

• Maa Menka Mandal (Vrindavan)
